A resident of Melrose Park, IL, Timmy Megenbier first got behind the wheel at the age of four via local karting. Timmy's career in karts yielded multiple national championships across many disciplines, culminating in a US National Championship in the highly competitive US Rotax Max Challenge.
In 2006, at the age of 15, Megenbier made the move to professional motorsports with two successive seasons driving in the Skip Barber national series, an open-wheel driver development series held at some of the most storied facilities in the US such as Sebring, Laguna Seca, and Road America. During his time in the Skip Barber series, Timmy accomplished multiple race wins, culminating in a 4th place championship finish in 2007.
In 2008, Timmy was selected to participate in Volkswagen's TDI Jetta Cup series, the inaugural championship for Volkswagen's US-based spec sedan racing series. Pole positions and race wins, coupled with a year of learning in 2008 prepped Megenbier for a breakout season in 2009 in which Megenbier dominated the series with most pole positions, laps led, and race wins en route to the series championship.
In 2010, with support from Volkswagen as a result of his accomplishments in 2009, Timmy embarks on the next step toward a full-time career in professional motorsports. Currently residing in Hanover, Germany, Timmy competes full time in the Volkswagen Scirocco Cup series, a support series to the famed German (DTM) Touring Series.
At the end of 2010 that he finished 4th and now is back in the United States for 2011 running the USF 2000 Madza Road to Indy.
